About Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre for Women in Merseyside

RASA is an independent voluntary organisation and registered charity. It was started in 1986 by a group of local women who were aware of the effects of sexual abuse and rape on a woman’s life.

Whether it is happening now, happened recently or happened a long time ago, we are here to support you.

We offer the chance to talk over your experiences face to face and in confidence.

We can advocate and support women through appointments, help with visits to the police, hospital and to other professionals and agencies if requested.

We provide a safe environment where a trained woman will listen in a non- judgmental way. Practical information on issues like pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections and where to go for advice on other medical problems.
We believe that every referral to RASA should be a self-referral. While we are happy to speak to friends, families, legal advisors, doctors, teachers, social workers, other agencies etc, the first call for help has to be from the survivor herself. We do not generally accept third party referrals.
