Level 2 Award in Counselling Concepts
For Learners who are interested in counselling training and what it entails, the Level 2 Award in Counselling Concepts is a practical introduction. This taster course will encourage Learners to develop their communication skills and gain a comprehensive and full understanding of the following:
- The professional context of counselling
- Communication skills in helping relationships
- An introduction to personal development
Learners will complete a written piece of work for each of the above and will also be expected to participate in a 15 minute listening session observed by the tutor.
Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills
Please note: Entry level for this qualification is a Level 2 Award in Counselling Concepts
This qualification develops a repertoire of interpersonal skills and counselling skills, promotes personal growth, and provides essential industry knowledge to help learners make informed career decisions. Learners will complete this qualification with a comprehensive and full understanding of the following:
- Understanding the context for the use of counselling skills
- Understanding counselling theory
- Using counselling skills
- Personal development for users of counselling skills
Learners will complete a written piece of work for each of the above and will also be expected to participate in a 30 minute listening session observed by the tutor.
Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
Please note: Entry level for this qualification is a Level 3 therapeutic qualification.
This qualification when combined with The Skills and Education Group Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills, meets the basic training requirement for recognition as a qualified counsellor and also contains supervised placement hours. Learners will complete this qualification with a comprehensive and full understanding of the following:
- Ethical frameworks, including the importance of setting, supervision and casework management in counselling
- The impact diverse culture and heritage can have on the client/counsellor relationship in a multicultural society
- One of the main therapeutic orientations
- How to conduct a counselling session with a client in an ethical, effective and safe way
- How to increase self-awareness
- The purpose and importance of Research in counselling
Learners will complete a written piece of work for each of the above and will also be expected to participate in a 50 minute listening session observed by the tutor.

If you have selected either the Counselling Skills/Fast Track course or the Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling you have the option to pay for the course upfront, per year (diploma only) or monthly.
