Who We Support
The RASA Centres provide free, confidential and non-judgemental services, run by women for individuals who have experienced any form of rape or sexual abuse at any time in their lives.
This service is ageless and genderless although we maintain women only space in the Birkenhead Centre for the benefits of the women and girls who use it.
Our clients are both directly and indirectly affected by sexual violence. Some have experienced rape or sexual abuse directly and others have been indirectly affected by rape or sexual abuse for example family members and supporters of survivors (secondary victims).
They can either self-refer or be referred by other professionals.
Once referred into RASA, there are a number of services available including telephone support and information via office phone lines which are staffed during office hours and a helpline which is staffed at given times. All potential service users will receive an initial assessment to ascertain the appropriateness for them of one to one support. Survivors or supporters can then access The Counselling Service, the ISVA service or other support which includes one to one sessions, group drop in sessions, survivors therapeutic group sessions, non-therapeutic groups and activities and phone or email support.
RASA will signpost to other agencies and organisations where we are for any reason, unable to provide support, or feel that more appropriate support could be accessed from a different agency.
