QLS LEVEL 5 DIPLOMA - Working Therapeutically with Neurodiversity
This practical, neuro-affirming course is designed for qualified counsellors working under supervision who want to enhance their skills and understanding when working with neurodivergent clients. Training will take place over 3 weekends and will help you:
- Understand neurodivergence from diagnostic, functional and lived experience perspectives
- Explore how anxiety and trauma commonly show up in neurodivergent clients — and how to respond in ways that heal, not harm
- Learn how to adapt your counselling approach to meet individual needs and sensory preferences
- Build a strong, strengths-based foundation for neuro-affirming practice
- Feel more confident supporting clients who may have found therapy inaccessible or invalidating in the past
- Delivered by practitioners with both lived experience and extensive professional expertise
You’ll leave this course with a deeper understanding of what neurodivergent clients want from therapy, along with practical tools and insights you can immediately bring into your work.
Assessment: Participants will be assessed through continual practical assessment by Tutors and Peers and will write a review, case study and deliver an individual presentation.
We will ensure that reasonable adjustments or special consideration will be offered to enable fair access to all components of the course.

At the end of this course successful learners will be given the option to receive a Certificate of Achievement from the Quality Licence Scheme and a Learner Unit Summary (which lists the components the learner has completed as part of the course).

COUNSELLING CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE QLS LEVEL 5
This a post qualifying course for counsellors who want to develop knowledge and skills relating to the therapeutic work with Children and Young people. The course will address the following subject areas related to working with children and you people and develop your knowledge of:
- The needs of children and young people in counselling and psychotherapy services.
- Skills required when working with children and young people of differing ages, developmental stages and background and communication style.
- Key professional issues concerning risk factors, safeguarding responses and professional, ethical and legal frameworks relevant to this area of work.
- The contextual and organisational factors in terms of delivering counselling and psychotherapy services, e.g., multi-disciplinary settings, school counselling, voluntary/third sector agencies, statutory services.
- The mental health needs of children and young people, how mental health difficulties can emerge and present in children and/or young people.
- Working in the counselling relationship with key issues that impact on children and young people.
- It includes a mixture of ongoing formative feedback and a summative assessment aligned to the learning objectives of the course.
Duration: 6 days of tuition (across 3 months), plus at least 2-4 hours of independent learning per week.
Course Dates 20th/21st June (remote via zoom); 11th/12th July (remote via zoom) 15th/16th August (remote via zoom).
Fees: The fee is inclusive of assessments, tuition, certificate, course materials and creative materials.
